Aeroacoustics optimization of an airfoil using cutting edge advancements and trends for analyzing and visualizing simulation data
Abstract : Beside the fuel consumption, the acoustic performance of an airfoil is one important challenge for the designers. Hence, the aeronautics engineer has to determine the right parameters so that the airfoil performs well for an energetic point of view with respect to customers constraints such as the comfort of the passenger. Numerical simulation is here unavoidable and the numbers of models (and softwares) to be run makes it harder to reach the global optimum of the optimization problem. To achieve this task, one has to analyze and compare engineering data, trade-off conflicting design objectives, identify feasible design regions, capture multi-fidelity simulation processes, reduced margins and empowered consumers.
“id8 decide” is the first tool from a range of new web-based softwares that enables organizations to transform design exploration information into insight and insight into design decision. This presentation illustrates how to apply “id8 decide”s cutting edge design space exploration capabilities and prescriptive analytic solutions to the aeroacoustics optimization problem described above. On top of analyzing data and comparing the prediction capabilities of numerical models, it will also demonstrate how to detect feasible regions and post process optimization results.
