Chaired by Paco Chinesta, Professeur des universités, ENSAM and Dominique Baillargeat, Scientific executive director, CNRS&CREATE
This workshop will review technologies for building digital twins of cities and regions—complex systems of systems that require the integration of models derived from engineering sciences, data processed using advanced machine learning techniques, and intensive computing methods that enable detailed modeling of complex, multi-physical, multi-scale, strongly coupled systems defined across large spatial and temporal domains. The digital twins thus constructed will enable more optimal design of the systems involved, as well as optimal and tailored operation of infrastructure, logistics networks, and more—combining monitoring, diagnostics, forecasting, and decision-making to cover both routine operations and crisis management, from prevention to mitigation. The role of humans will also be reviewed, as technical solutions require societal acceptance, imposing constraints that must be taken into account from design through to operation. A roundtable bringing together initiatives such as the PEPRs, decision-makers (local authorities and regions), and tech stakeholders will be organized to clarify the needs and mechanisms for deploying these technologies in real-world settings.
