President Directeur Général of GENCI

Catherine Rivière is President Directeur Général of GENCI since January 2007 (Grand Equipement National pour le Calcul Intensif). The associates of this society are the French State (represented by the Ministry for Research), the CEA (Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique), the CNRS (Centre national de recherche scientifique) and the Universities. Before being appointed Président of GENCI, Catherine Rivière was chairman of TECH'advantage, a subsidiary company of Institut Français du Pétrole (the French Petroleum Institute). This SME of 50 persons provided software services in computer engineering. Before, she had various positions at IFP. She was deputy manager of the “exploration-production” division, and participated in the development and the follow-up of the program of R & D. Catherine Rivière has a large expertise in the development of numerical modelling and simulation. She was in charge for the technical coordination of the development of industrial software at IFP where she first tested the uses of a medical technique, Magnetic Resonance Imagery, in the oil field.
